Bday in Puerto Rico

So I got back last Monday from my Bday vacay in sunny Puerto Rico. However, once I was settled back in New York my week was booked with holiday parties, dinners and Christmas shopping. Finally I am able to take somewhat of a breather and I can give my travel review on what I thought of the star island of Puerto Rico.

beach1Upon arriving I had a list of things that I wanted to do and see. However I had no idea everything was so far out. My boyfriend thought it would be best to rent a car so we could come and go as we pleased. He was right because taxi rides were about 70 to 80 dollars one way. It just made more sense to rent & explore the places we wanted to go.POOLSIDE

On the first day out our first activity was venturing to the El Yunque Rain forest. Anytime I go on vacation I try to visit a place where I can get a lesson. The rain forest was absolutely stunning. waterfalls, palm trees, and wildlife galore. It is a must see for anyone who has never been to Puerto Rico.  Our next excursion on the list was ATV’s and horseback riding. Both activities we did in the rainforest which was pretty awesome. You are able to cover more ground this way.

On 12/13/14 which was my actual birthday we decided to venture off into Old San Juan first to sight see. The city reminded me of my trip to Spain seven years ago. You can definitely see the Spain influence. The cobblestone streets and colorful buildings made me feel like I was in Europe again. After exploring we had two more activities planned. First up were the Jet Skis in Isla Verde. After falling once in the water I was not a fan lol. Maybe it was because I wasn’t the one driving. However if you can experience this at least once I would say try it.old san juan

The last activity that we did for that was the Bio Bay. Since it was suggested not to bring our cell phones I don’t have any pictures I took myself.  However the experience was amazing to see and I will treasure it in my memory. The only con I have about this excursion was the fact that we had to kayak in the dark to see it. Once you see the illuminating waters it is all worth it. After such an adventurous day we were able to dress up and go out and enjoy the wonders of Puerto Rico.

island glowOn our last day in Puerto Rico we kind of just relaxed on the beach and poolside. On a scale of 1-10 for Puerto Rico I would rate it a 7. It is a beautiful island with lots to offer but it can get expensive. In a lot of ways it reminded me of New York City as far as cost but it was just tropical.greenlifeRESORT SHADE

It is a place that you don’t have to worry about having a passport which is nice. If you want a quick getaway this is the place to go but be sure to have spending money. I will definitely go back sometime in the near future to cross off some other excursions that are still on my list.
