My name is Ashley and I am a shopaholic! Admitting to your addiction is the first step. LOL.We all have been a victim to the allure of fashion.  I think many of us can agree we have all had that moment of weakness when it comes to lust or must. The best advice I can give is never shop beyond your means. Never sacrifice your bills for a fashion purchase that you “can’t live without.”  If you don’t have the funds for something you have been lusting for save for it. Trying to keep up with what you may see someone else have is never the way to go.

confessionsShopping  for must items are things that you need versus lust items that you may just want. If you need a new dress for a work event for example opt for something that you can perhaps wear again another time that is practical yet classic.  Shopping is all about making smart purchases. You want to buy things that will last, and also can be worn on more than one occasion. I can admit I struggle with lust buys vs must buys very often because I naturally love luxe items. Sometimes you just want to shop for the moment without thinking about later on.So each time I make a purchase I ask myself the following questions to make sure I am doing the right thing. Here are some of the questions…

How often will I wear this?  This is probably the biggest question to answer when you are about to make a purchase. If it is something you know you probably will only wear 2 or 3 times step away! Unless you are someone who has money to blow on whatever be smart when you shop.

Do I really need it or do I just want it?  We all have something we like just because we think is pretty to add to their wardrobe. I admit I can be a clothing hoarder and I will say to myself ” I might need this one day” This goes back to the first question of how often you will wear it… because most of us ladies & gents purchase things just because we just like it. We tend to never think long term and that is when you see clothing & accessories pile up in the back of our closets. I am guilty of just buying something just because it is on sale not because I need or want it. So it can work both ways.

Is it worth the cost? For me quality of quantity is important whenever you are considering making any type of purchase. When it comes to fashion sometimes we purchase luxe items just because we know it is expensive, but the real question is it good quality just because of the quantity? Most of my good quality items weren’t too expensive. I’m not saying you should treat yourself once in a while but be smart. You shouldn’t pay $300 dollars for a plain white shirt that may be only worth $30.

How long will this item last? Whenever you make a purchase make sure you consider how long you will have it. If you want to say splurge on a new coat make sure it is worth the splurge for a period of time not just for a season. Again this goes back to is it worth the cost. Be smart in with your lust purchase make sure it is worth it. This also applies to  cheaper purchases  as well. It doesn’t make sense to keep buying similar items every couple months if never last.  View your fashion purchases as investments and you will make better choices. Save up for something that will withstand time & money.

As long as you ask yourself these questions prior to making a purchase you should be good to go. All is fair in lust fashion & must fashion. Just do your research and make wise choices.

Happy Shopping,
